Born in California in 1943, Don Langson was introduced to the world of photography by his father, a passionate amateur photographer. This early exposure sparked a lifelong passion in Langson, who has since become one of North America's premier nature photographers. His unique ability to capture the essence of the natural world stems from a deep understanding and appreciation of nature, refined through years of self-directed learning and exploration.
Langson's photographic journey is marked by a transition from black and white to color in the early '70s, with color photography becoming his dominant medium. His diverse subjects include wildlife, landscapes, the human figure, and abstracts, showcasing his versatility and keen eye for detail. Langson's work is celebrated for its extraordinary detail, vibrant colors, and the emotional depth it conveys, earning him a nationwide reputation.
A lifelong learner, Langson has studied with some of the greatest names in photography, including Ansel Adams, Ralph Gibson, and Cole Weston, among others. These studies, combined with his hands-on experience from junior high through adulthood, have allowed Langson to refine a unique style that blends technical proficiency with an artistic vision.
Beyond his work as a photographer, Langson has shared his knowledge and passion through teaching, contributing to the photographic community in Texas and Nevada. He's also a founding member of several photographic societies, illustrating his commitment to the art form and its dissemination.
